Write for The Basic Hub.
You know something that other people need to know. Maybe it’s how to set up a home network, how to understand compound interest, or how to read a food label. Maybe it’s deeper — how to negotiate a raise, how to start a garden, how to navigate a healthcare system.
Whatever it is, if you can explain it clearly and patiently, we want to help you share it.
Why Contribute?
The Basic Hub reaches people who are looking for honest, practical information — the kind that actually helps. Every guide we publish is someone’s first step toward understanding something that makes their life better.
You get:
- Your own author profile — a bio page on the site with your photo, background, and links
- A @thebasichub.com email address — for correspondence, at your option
- Full credit — every article you write carries your name and links back to your bio
- Editorial support — we help with structure, images, checklists, and anything else needed to turn your knowledge into a great guide
What We’re Looking For
Good writing for The Basic Hub is:
- Clear — explain as if to an intelligent friend who’s new to the topic
- Practical — the reader should be able to do something after reading
- Respectful — no jargon for jargon’s sake, no talking down, no hype
- Honest — if there are trade-offs, say so; if something’s hard, acknowledge it
Topics we cover include but aren’t limited to:
- Technology — home networking, device setup, security basics, software, AI
- Personal Finance — budgeting, saving, investing, taxes, insurance
- Health — exercise, nutrition, navigating the medical system, mental health
- Economics — how money works, how markets work, how policy affects daily life
- Life Skills — cooking, cleaning, home maintenance, communication, negotiation
If your topic doesn’t fit neatly into one of these, send it anyway. The best articles often straddle categories.
How It Works
- Get in touch. Email us at [email protected] with your topic idea and a bit about yourself.
- We’ll discuss. We’ll work out the scope, angle, and structure together. If a checklist, infographic, or supplementary material would help, we’ll plan that too.
- You write. We’ll give you a rough deadline that works for you. Write at your own pace — we’d rather have a thoughtful guide than a rushed one.
- We edit and publish. We’ll polish the draft, add images or formatting as needed, and publish it with your author bio and photo.
- You’re an author. You’ll get a @thebasichub.com email if you want one, a permanent author page on the site, and the satisfaction of knowing you helped someone.
Your Author Bio
Every contributor gets a page on the site. You control how much or how little to share:
- Your name — real name or pseudonym, your choice
- A photo or icon — or just your initials as an avatar
- A short bio — background, expertise, what you care about
- A contact email — public or private, your choice
- Links — personal site, social media, anything you want
Your bio page also lists every article you’ve written here, so it becomes a permanent portfolio of your work.
Questions?
Email us at [email protected]. No question is too small, and no idea is too simple.
We look forward to hearing from you.
