About The Basic Hub

Two Christmases ago, I was visiting my sister in Australia. She told me about the women in her choir - all smart, capable, around her age. Every one of them had a smartphone. And every one of them would phone the pizza store to order, because that’s what they knew.

They’d paid for the most powerful technology in human history and were using it like a cordless landline.

It’s not their fault. Nobody ever showed them.

That’s why this site exists.

What We Believe

We’re a team who believes information on the internet should be accurate, easy to access, easy to use, and relevant to the lives of busy people - without jargon, hype or gaslighting. There’s enough of that already, online and in the real world.

What We Do

We explain things the way we wish someone had explained them to us. Technology. Money. How the world actually works.

We start at the beginning and go from there. No assumption that you already know the basics. If we use a term you might not know, we define it first.

Why “Basics”?

Because the basics are what everyone needs. Once you have a solid foundation, everything else is just details.

If you have specialized knowledge, or deep experience, of a topic, and want to explain to people of good intent what you know, visit our Contribute page. We can assist with planning content, adding images, creating checklists and ebooks etc. Every contributor gets their own author bio page and a @thebasichub.com email address.
